Festivus Dentonius Series Invites People to Rediscover Downtown Denton

This year, a series of non-profit promotional events dubbed “Festivus Dentonius” was held jointly by local businesses and Downtown Denton Main Street. The activities, which ranged from a Dress Your Pet Parade and an Acorn Hole Tournament to a co-ed High Heel Race, brought residents and visitors alike to Denton to enjoy the free activities and rediscover the downtown community.

The inspiration for the event’s name comes from Dentonius the black squirrel, which became Denton’s official town mascot earlier this year.

“We want people to know that there is always something fun to do in downtown Denton, ” says Mike Owens, owner of Color ‘N’ Clay in Downtown Denton. “The Festivus Dentonius series has been a great way to bring people downtown and show them the great things happening in their own backyard.”

Residents and visitors can look forward to a fantastic lineup of Festivus Dentonius events in 2013!
