Second Saturday at the Artsway: Fiber Artist George Laufert
On Saturday, June 8th, from 2-4 p.m., the Caroline County Council of Arts will host a free artist demonstration as part of the Second Saturday series offered at the Artsway in Denton. Fiber artist, George Laufert will demonstrate crewel embroidery at the Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore (FACES), 7 N. Fourth Street, Denton.
George Laufert is a retired Federal and State employee who lived with his family in the same zip code his entire life (21224 – Baltimore City and County); that is, until a life altering move to Easton in 2007. He now has the time to participate in activities that were not as readily available to him before, including embroidery. George creates designs that uses lots of different stitching techniques and 3-D effects.
FACES is a unique place to view historic and recent works by fiber artists from the Delmarva Peninsula. It is a great place to visit, shop, learn, and find inspiration. Also located in the Artsway is The Foundry, Caroline County Council of Arts’ (CCCA) community art gallery at 401 Market Street in Denton.
