Lions to Host Santa Chase at Martinak State Park
On Saturday December 14th, the Ridgely and Denton Lions Clubs will co-sponsor the 2nd Annual Santa Chase Luminary 2 Mile Fun Run & Walk as part of Santa’s Magic Workshop and the Enchanted Christmas Forest at Martinak State Park. This year’s race will be co-sponsored by the Lions, the Caroline County Recreation and Parks, the MD Park Service and the Caroline County Humane Society. All proceeds from the Fun Run will support Lions vision and community programs as well as the Caroline County Humane Society.
The Santa Chase will begin promptly at 7:30pm with race check-in and registration beginning at 6pm. The flat 2 Mile course will be lighted with over 500 luminaries. This is a pet friendly event, but please remember to have your pet on a leash. All runners, walkers and their four-legged friends are encouraged to dress in their best holiday costumes. Prizes with be awarded to the best male, female, family and pet costumes. All registered runners and walkers will be entered into a drawing for prizes and gifts donated for the event.
Advance registration for the Santa Chase will be $15/ person, $50 for a family of four and for a pet and person team: $20. You can get a Santa Chase registration form at the Caroline Rec & Parks office at 107 South 4th Street in Denton or on line at www.carolinerecreation.org. All participants are also asked to donate a non-perishable pet food item to support the Pet Pantry at the Caroline County Animal Shelter.

Santa’s Magic Workshop will be happening at Martinak State Park from 4pm-7pm. Everyone is encouraged to come out early to take a hayride through the Enchanted Campground, create holiday crafts, decorate ornaments, visit Santa, check out model trains, and enjoy tasty goodies and hot cocoa.
