Denton to Host Olde Tyme Christmas Celebration
Downtown Denton will be hosting an Olde Tyme Christmas Celebration on Friday, December 6th from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. This event, which takes place in historic downtown Denton, will feature free holiday hayrides on the Candy Cane Express, decorated holiday windows, Santa and Mrs. Claus, Christmas carolers, wreath-making and more.
Denton will become illuminated as merchants and business owners decorate their windows and storefronts in the holiday spirit. Viewers are encouraged to stroll or take a free holiday hayride on Denton Ace Hardware’s “Candy Cane Express” through the streets of historic Denton to view the decorated window. The “Candy Cane Express” will depart from Denton Ace Hardware, located at 328 Market Street.
Carolers will be strolling the streets, singing old-fashioned Christmas songs. Patti’s Petals, located at 219 Market Street will be offering fresh wreath making demonstrations. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be hearing holiday wish-lists.
The Foundry, Caroline County’s Community Arts Gallery, will be hosting Caroline Hospice’s Festival of Trees, so visitors will be able to view and bid on ornately decorated Christmas Trees.
Joviality Gifts, located at 406 Market Street, will have a storyteller in costume reading seasonal children’s books from 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm.
Visitors will also be able to get a head start on their holiday shopping, as many of the downtown shops will be staying open late. While you’re downtown, be sure to stop in to Harry’s on the Green, the Market Street Public House or the Salad Star to enjoy a delicious dinner or drink.
In addition to Old Tyme Christmas, the annual Denton Holiday Parade will be taking place on Thursday, December 5th in downtown Denton. For more information on this free, family event, please contact Patti Wood at 410-479-4445.
