7th Ole Time Ridgely Days Returns on May 3rd 2014

On May 3rd, 2014, between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, the 7th Ole Time Ridgely Days will be held in the Town’s Railroad Memorial Park located just off Central Avenue, rain or shine. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive day out right in your own back yard, come out and enjoy a family oriented event.   In addition to the traditional 50 cent hot dogs, and 50 cent ice cream, there will be other traditional favorites: Including funnel cakes provided by the  AmVets, burgers by the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department cadets, and pork parfait by the Ridgely Lions Club.

In 2008, the  Ridgely Historical Society along with Brenda & Chuck Walls from the Ridgely Pharmacy and Ice Cream Parlor had planned to put on an ice cream social in the park.  However, with donations from local businesses such as Tri-Me Warehouse Foods in Ridgely and Save-a-Lot in Greensboro, as well as the participation and help of many other local organizations and people of Ridgely, the event soon expanded to the first Ole Time Ridgely Days, to be held the first Saturday of May each year.

Antique cars will be parked in front of the Ridgely Pharmacy, and farm tractors will be on display along Bell Street.  There will be the traditional cake wheel with many of the cakes donated by local residents.  Kids games, face painting  will be available to entertain the young ones (come early). Tuckahoe Scales & Tales will be making an appearance, and pony rides will be provided by Angels GatherHere Horse Farm.  Talley Ober of  Eagle Productions will  DJ the event, and Sweetwater, a local area band, will perform southern rock and other music live between 1pm and 3pm.  Vendors, crafters, and much more will be scattered throughout the park

Over the past 7 years Ridgely’s Railroad Memorial Park itself has experienced quite a few changes itself.  If you haven’t checked it out, Saturday, May 3rd, would be a great time to do so, and enjoy a day of festivities.  Admission is free.  For further information, contact Cathy Schwab at 410-991-8225, or email her at
