Saturday’s event features a Halloween Costume Contest, a Pumpkin Chunkin Contest, a Pie Eating Contest, and free events all day long, including face painting, dino dig, pumpkin Decorating and more!     • Denton Ghost Walk

      Feeling brave? Chesapeake Ghost Walks will be leading a haunted stroll through Downtown Denton on Wednesday, October 8th. Sites on the Denton tour include the Caroline Jail and the ghost of Wish Sheppard, St. Luke’s Cemetery, Emerson House, Towers House, Taylor House, Dr. Knotts House, St. Elizabeth’s graveyard and the courthouse green where your guide will share stories about the old Indian tribes, the lynching of Marshall Price and the ghost of Annie Belle Carter.

      Cost is $15 per adult, $9 for kids 8 to 12 years old.

    • Linchester Antique and Art Show

      Historic Linchester Mill, 3390 Linchester Road, Preston
      Come join the fun at the Linchester Mill's Antiques and Art Show, a day filled with antiques, history, art, food, music and fun! The event will feature more than 40 quality antique and art dealers, live music, food vendors and artisan demonstrations. Attendees will be able to tour the Linchester Mill, one of the last operating water powered mills on the Eastern Shore that Charles Kuralt described as “treasure of America. Admission to the event is $5, and proceeds support the Caroline County Historical Society.

    • A Literary Evening with Mark Twain

      Caroline Golf, Pealiquor Road, Denton
      Celebrate the life and times of the American writer and humorist Mark Twain at this event presented by the Caroline County Council of Arts. Guests will be treated to a fun-filled evening of good food, entertainment, words, and wit. While not required, guests are encouraged to get into the spirit of the event (and Halloween) by dressing in period or themed attire. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your seat today!     • Grassroots: An Evening of Bluegrass to benefit the arts in Caroline

      North Caroline High School Auditorium, 10990 River Rd, Ridgely, MD
      Get ready for an evening of bluegrass! Don’t miss Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen, Flatland Drive, and the Walls of Bluegrass Reunion. Food and refreshments will be offered on site, and proceeds benefit the arts in Caroline County.Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at door and are available online at carolinearts.org or by calling 410.479.1009.

      About the bands:

      Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen – dirtykitchenband.com. Vocal, instru mental, and bluegrass songwriting skills so hot, they earned Best Bluegrass Band honors from the Washington Area Music association.

      A Reunion: Walls of Bluegrass – brothers Chris, Mike, and Eddie Walls reunite after 15+ years with former band-mates Jon simmons and Mike Mumford.

      Flatland Drive – flatlanddrive.com. Hard-driving, traditional bluegrass inspired by the Seldom Scene, Lonesome River Band, and their own original tunes.

      Grassroots is produced with support from the Maryland State Arts Council, and in partnership with the Caroline Public Library, Caroline Recreation & Parks, and Caroline County Public schools. Special thanks to the administration of North Caroline High School and to Towers Concrete Products, the event sponsor. The event is presented by the Caroline County Council of Arts.
